Intertextuality

Intertextuality (in the film world) is when scenes from a previous movie is interpreted in another movie, and this can be used for all genres, for example scary movie is known for to overly use intertextuality as this is the essence of the film, this movie used scenes from 'The sixth scene'   such as the line 'i see dead people' and makes into a comedy.

But a good example of intextuality would be the
famous shower scene from 1960's film 'psycho'.
