Intertextuality

Intertextuality is when a director of a film, takes a certain scene from another film and interprets it to their scenes. Some would say that the originatlity of the film may be lost if you take a scene from another film and imitate it into one of their own.

An example of intertextuality is the shower scene from the film Psycho that The Stephfather, Fatal Attractiion and Succubus. The Stepfather has reference from the film Psycho by the curtain beeing pulled down from a person that has been stabbed/sliced. The films are both set in the bathroom so the intertextuality is obvious.
